Family Fun Day 2016!

Poster with info on Family Fun Day

Every year, we look forward to gathering with our adoptive families and community to celebrate adoption at our annual Family Fun Day! In the past this was an event to bring our adoptive families together to reconnect but last year we took it bigger. This became a joyous family event for the whole Waco community that we are excited to share again with you on June 18 from 10:00 am – 2:00 pm at Highland Baptist Church located at 3014 Maple Ave, Waco, Texas.

Hear from volunteer Julie Zakhary about her experience last year:

“I love adoption!  Whether it’s the one being adopted, the ones adopting, or the ones assisting with the adoption.  I love this idea.  So when Cathy suggested to me that I might be blessed by organizing the Family Fun Day, I was quick to say “yes” and to assist the staff with a new vision of what this day could be for the families of adopted children and those interested in supporting adoption.

We decided to go BIG, so we changed the venue to the Life Center at Highland Baptist Church in Waco.  This facility allowed us to expand what events we would provide and how many people could join us. Excitement was in the air!

Providing fire trucks from a local fire department and a balloon man as well as home cooked hamburgers and fries were just a few of the fun additions to the day.  We still had face painting and games and bouncy houses as well as basketball and selfie dress up photobooth.  The highlight of the day, outside of seeing old friends and making new ones, was the Daddy/Kid scooter races at the end of the day.  Wow, did those dads love this!!   I think the kids loved it as much!  This year we will add moms into the picture by having a Hula Hoop Contest, so come on moms, get those hips moving!

But for me, my favorite part was allowing the staff to have time with the parents to facilitate an exchange of ideas, thoughts, joys, and struggles.  The break out time for the parents blessed me to see them being equipped by each other and the Generations staff.  With their own break out time, the kids seemed to love being “artists” and decorating their cookies while mom and dad were visiting!

Please join us this year for more laughs, smiles, friends, and encouragement.  I am praying even as I write that the Spirit who brings all encouragement will fill our day with His presence.”

Register here and join us at Family Fun Day on June 18!
